World Series Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning matchup where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total over 50 million viewers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday epic game drew 27.33M viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase over the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it drew 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two consecutive years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total American viewership was 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and the network’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
